.Options: Click Options to open the Spelling Options dialog box, which enables you tocustomize the current spelling options.You can check or clear the check boxes, choose alanguage from the Language drop-down list, and even edit the custom dictionary, whichcontains words you ve added via the Add button, plus any words you type in manually.Undo Last: Click Undo Last to undo your most recent change (if any) and skip back to theprevious misspelled word.Cancel (or Close): Click Cancel or Close to stop the spelling check immediately.A message appears when the spelling check is complete.Click OK to clear the message.Tip Your choices in the Spelling Options dialog box affect the current spelling checksession and all future spelling check sessions.You ll learn another way to changethe spelling checker options in  Customizing the default mail options, later in thischapter.Figure 8-23: Messages waiting to be sent appear in Outlook Express s Outbox.More About Sending and Receiving MessagesAs mentioned earlier in this chapter, you can send your messages immediately  by clicking the Sendbutton on the New Message window toolbar, for example.If you prefer to stack up your messages inyour Outbox until you re ready to send the whole bunch, you can use the File ’! Send Later optioninstead.Assuming you have some messages stacked in your Outbox, follow these simple steps to sendthem:1.Open Outlook Express using whichever method you prefer (see  Starting Outlook Express ).2.If you want to see a list of messages waiting to be sent, click the Outbox icon in the Outlook baror the folder list.A list of messages waiting to be sent appears in the message list, as in theexample shown in Figure 8-24.page 140 Windows XP BibleFigure 8-24: The Outlook Express Inbox with unread messages listed in boldface3.Do one of the following:To send all the current messages and also to receive any messages waiting foryou, click the Send/Recv button on the toolbar or press Ctrl+M.If you have morethan one account, Outlook Express will send and receive e-mail for all youraccounts automatically.To send all the current messages and also receive any messages that are waitingfor you, you also can choose Tools ’! Send and Receive ’! Send and ReceiveAll.If you have multiple accounts, you ll see a list with options for choosingwhich account to use.To send the pending messages without retrieving new ones, choose Tools ’!Send and Receive ’! Send All from the menu bar.A dialog box will keep you posted on the progress and your computer will dial your service provider (ifyou use a modem to connect).When all the messages have been sent, the Outbox will be empty.Copies of the sent messages will be stored in the Sent Items box.Tip You can change any message waiting in your Outbox.Simply open the Outbox,double-click the message you want to change in the message list, and change themessage as needed.Then click the Send button on the toolbar (or press Alt+S).If you close Outlook Express while unsent messages are still in your Outbox, you ll see a box telling youthe following:You have unsent messages in your Outbox.Do you want to send them now?This is a friendly reminder in case you composed a message and forgot to send it.You can choose Yesto send the messages immediately or choose No to leave them in the Outbox to send them later.Reading Your MessagesRetrieving and viewing new Internet e-mail messages is easy.Just follow these steps:1.Open Outlook Express using any of the techniques described in the section  Starting OutlookExpress, earlier in this chapter.2.Click the Send/Recv button (or press Ctrl+M).Tip If you want to check for new messages without sending any messages that are inthe Outbox, use Tools ’! Send and Receive ’! Receive All.You ll see some progress dialog boxes as Outlook Express sends any messages in your Outbox andthen copies new messages from your e-mail server on the Internet to your PC.To view the new messages, open the Inbox (a number appears next to the Inbox to indicate the numberof unread messages it contains).New messages you haven t read yet are listed in boldface in themessage list and are preceded by a closed envelope icon, as in the example shown in Figure 8-24.page 141 Windows XP BibleMessages containing attached files are preceded by a paperclip icon and those with a high or lowpriority are preceded by an exclamation point (!) or a down arrow, respectively.Note Don t panic if the boldface attribute suddenly disappears from the message line.This means you viewed the message for about five seconds (an interval you canadjust, as explained later in  Customizing the default mail options ).To read a specific message, click it.The preview pane at the bottom shows the contents of the e-mailmessage.If you prefer to open the message in a separate window, double-click it.Tip If you already have messages stored in one of the more popular e-mail programs,you can import them into Outlook Express.Importing old messages can beespecially handy when you re switching from some other e-mail program to OutlookExpress.See the section  Importing and Exporting Messages for details.When you finish reading the message, you can do any of the following:Reply: To send a reply to the author of the e-mail, click the Reply toolbar button or pressCtrl+R.Type your reply and click the Send toolbar button.Reply All: To reply to everyone who received the message (including those who receivedcarbon copies), click the Reply All toolbar button or press Ctrl+Shift+R.Type your reply andclick the Send button [ Pobierz caÅ‚ość w formacie PDF ]
